Repair work scheduled through April 20
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has reported a fault in one of its international submarine cables, raising concerns about internet performance across the country. The company confirmed the development on Monday, stating that repair work will begin on April 14.
According to a PTCL spokesperson, an international cable consortium will carry out the maintenance operation. The repair process is expected to continue until April 20, as technical teams work to fix the issue efficiently. Meanwhile, authorities have coordinated efforts to minimize disruptions during this period.
Users may face slow connectivity
However, PTCL has warned that internet users nationwide may experience slower connectivity, especially during peak evening hours when demand on the network increases significantly. As a result, customers could notice reduced browsing speeds and interruptions in online services.
In addition, the company acknowledged that internet services may remain partially disrupted until the fault is fully resolved. Despite these challenges, PTCL emphasized that teams are actively working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, the company apologized for the temporary inconvenience caused to users. It reassured customers that all necessary measures are being taken to address the issue and improve service stability.
Overall, the disruption highlights the reliance on international submarine cables for internet connectivity in Pakistan. Nevertheless, PTCL remains optimistic that services will gradually improve as repair work progresses in the coming days.
