PTI Rejects FIR, Accuses Police of Tampering in Raoof Hasan Attack Case

Raoof Hasan Attack Case

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the First Information Report (FIR) registered by Islamabad police regarding the attack on party spokesperson Raoof Hasan, alleging that the police tampered with the report.

PTI leader Omar Ayub claimed that the FIR does not reflect the written complaint filed by Hasan and demanded a judicial commission to investigate the incident.

Hasan was attacked by unknown persons outside a news channel’s office on Tuesday, with eyewitnesses identifying a group of transgender persons as the assailants.

However, PTI claims that the FIR was altered to exclude any mention of terrorism. Ayub warned that if PTI leadership is targeted again, the party will stage peaceful protests nationwide, directly impacting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

Hasan hinted that the attack was part of a state crackdown on PTI and its leadership, citing the party’s demands for a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incident.

He accused an unnamed figure of authority of acting like a dictator and undermining the people’s wishes. Hasan claimed that the attack on him was a “proper orchestrated plan” and that the assailants were well-trained individuals, not transgenders.

Islamabad police maintain that the investigation is being conducted professionally, and the FIR was registered based on Hasan’s signed application.

A special investigation team has been formed to take the case to its logical conclusion. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar shared details of the incident in the Senate, assuring that efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and that the government is serious about addressing the issue.

Imran Khan’s social media team posted a message condemning the attack and urging party members and supporters to be prepared for street agitation.

The PTI has rejected the FIR and demanded a judicial commission to investigate the incident, alleging police tampering and a state crackdown on the party and its leadership.
