PTI leaders and hundreds of supporters have been booked for chanting anti-state slogans

Police in various cities have taken action against supporters and leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party for allegedly blocking roads, chanting slogans against state institutions, and organizing rallies on Friday.

In Gujranwala, cases have been filed against MPAs Tariq Gujjar and Kaleemullah, Sunni Ittehad Council MNA Ehsan Virk, and ticket holder Asadullah, along with 140 others, for their involvement in road blockades and anti-government chants.

The police reported that Kaleemullah and Gujjar had shouted slogans against institutions and obstructed roads, leading to the filing of cases in Civil Line and Dhulle police stations under relevant sections.

Separate cases were also lodged against Ehsan Virk and Asadullah in Baghbanpura and Kamoke Saddar police stations for alleged interference in government affairs, inciting protests, and road blockades. Raids have been conducted to apprehend the suspects.

Additionally, Rahim Yar Khan saw two cases filed against 87 PTI workers, including MPA Asif Majeed, for similar offenses of road blockades and anti-institution chants, including violations of the Amplifier Act.

In Islamabad, a case was registered against PTI leadership, including Chairman Barrister Gohar, Secretary General Omar Ayub, and others, for organizing a protest rally at Karachi Company police station. The FIR includes charges of violating Section 144, clashing with the police, and making hateful speeches.

In Gojra, a case was registered at City police station for organizing a protest rally, which also included provisions for displaying weapons and road blockades. The FIR lists eight named and 15 unidentified individuals.

These incidents underscore the ongoing political unrest in Punjab, with multiple cases registered against politicians and party workers for disruptive activities. The Punjab police are actively pursuing legal action against those found violating the law to maintain peace and order in the region.
