PTI Leader Umar Ayub Announces Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal as Punjab Leaders

RAWALPINDI: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Umar Ayub announced that the party’s founder has entrusted the leadership of PTI in Punjab to Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Ayub expressed concerns that these leaders might be detained and coerced into making statements against their will, a tactic he strongly condemned.

Ayub made it clear that any such forced statements would be categorically rejected by the party leadership. He emphasized the loyalty and commitment of Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal to the PTI, stating that the party would stand firmly behind them in all circumstances.

He also revealed that both leaders met with the PTI founder in jail, where the decision to consolidate the party’s leadership in Punjab was made. Ayub underscored the strategic importance of this move, reflecting the founder’s trust in their leadership abilities and their dedication to the party’s cause.

Highlighting the alarming economic indicators, Ayub cited a significant decrease in loans to the private sector and the federal government’s failure to purchase farmers’ crops, resulting in the import of wheat worth billions. He pointed to these issues as evidence of the federal government’s mismanagement and its adverse impact on the economy.

Ayub also accused the federal government of causing recent unrest in Kashmir, blaming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for betraying the Kashmiris and compromising their interests. He pledged that the PTI would continue to protect the Constitution of Pakistan, contrasting the founder’s brief, focused meetings with the lengthy, unproductive sessions held by Nawaz Sharif and his allies. This statement emphasized PTI’s commitment to political integrity and their strategic positioning in Punjab under new, robust leadership.
