Germany Acknowledges Pakistan Army’s Counterterrorism Efforts

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir is currently undertaking an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

Upon arrival, the Army Chief was warmly received at the Federal Ministry of Defence by General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence, where he was honored with a guard of honor by the contingent of the German Armed Forces.

During his visit, General Munir held important meetings with key figures, including Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army. Together, they visited the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen, where the COAS received comprehensive briefings on the center’s operations and observed firsthand the training activities conducted for the German Army and contingents of other Armies. Notably, he witnessed a demonstration of urban warfare and toured various training facilities.

Additionally, General Munir engaged in discussions with significant political figures, including Mr. Jens Plötner, Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Federal Chancellor, Mr. Tobias Linder, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Nils Hilmer, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. These meetings focused on matters of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of bilateral cooperation and strategic partnerships.

The ISPR highlighted that the German leadership acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s pivotal role in combating terrorism and maintaining regional peace and stability.

As part of his itinerary, the COAS is also scheduled to visit the German Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Hamburg, where he will address students from various countries.

During his address, General Munir will elaborate on Pakistan’s Regional and International Security Perspective, as well as the significant contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces to United Nations Missions.

This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation with Germany in various fields, including defense and security.
