PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif gets Diplomatic Passport to return to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has been given a new diplomatic passport in London.

According to the government’s criteria, Ministry of Interior’s Directorate-General of Immigration and Passports issues diplomatic passports to the dignitaries of the state, diplomats and other entitled categories in pursuance of Para-45 of Part-I of Passport & Visa Manual, 2006.

Nawaz Sharif has been living in London since 2019 when he left Pakistan for his treatment abroad.

In Feb 2021, passport of Nawaz Sharif expired and the PTI government had refused to renew Nawaz’s passport.

The former PM Nawaz Sharif was given eight-week bail on medical grounds in October 2019 he left for London a month later for four weeks treatment. He has not returned to Pakistan from London since and living in the British capital.

On Thursday, PM Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Nawaz in London. Senior PML-N leaders _ Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Asif, Sulaiman Shahbaz, Hussain Nawaz and Malik Ahmad Khan were also present in the meeting which lasted for about three and a half hours.

It was second meeting of PM Shehbaz with elder brother Nawaz in London during his recent urgent visit. 

Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif have discussed issues pertaining to Pakistan’s political milieu, PTI’s long march resumed today, the appointment of a new army chief, inflation, and PTI’s demand of holding early elections.

After meeting, Sharifs have rejected early elections demand and said their coalition government will complete its term.
