Nawaz Sharif, Maryam reach Geneva ahead of UN fund-raising for Pakistan

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, now elevated as Senior Vice-President of party, have reached Geneva in Switzerland on a week-long trip ahead of the start of the UN’s fund-raising moot for Pakistan.

Both the top PML-N leaders will stay in Geneva for a week. Both the leaders departed from Heathrow airport on Wednesday on a Swiss flight. Two other family members are also with them.

The United Nations is co-hosting an international conference on climate resilient Pakistan on Jan 9, 2023 in Geneva.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also scheduled to attend the Geneva moot along with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Geo News reported today.

On the request of Pakistan, the United Nations has arranged this conference to marshal international support for Pakistan’s flood-affected population.

During week-long visit Nawaz Sharif will meet PM Shehbaz to discuss important political and economic issues. Shehbaz Sharif will reach Geneva on Sunday (Jan 8) to participate in conference.

“Nawaz Sharif’s heart surgeon is also based in Geneva and he has made clinical appointments in the city for him,” sources said. They added that it’s the same surgeon who has treated Nawaz Sharif in London.

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will return to London after a week.

In Nov 2022, Nawaz Sharif embarked on a 10-day five-nation European tour accompanied by his daughter and other family members after getting Blue Passport.
