BRESCIA: A referendum for a separate Sikh country began on October 31, last year, and tens of thousands of Sikhs have so far taken part in poll events in several places around the UK and other nations linked with the Khalistan referendum.
The voting station for the Khalistan referendum in Brescia, Italy, will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., local time.
The preparation of the referendum delivered a powerful message to India to cease Sikh persecution. The referendum results will be shared with the United Nations and other international organisations in order to reach a wider consensus on a separate homeland for Sikhs in India.
Sikhs’ quest for a separate country is completely consistent with the US Constitution, and India cannot prevent them from obtaining their birthright for independence.
Over 6,000 Sikhs from Switzerland and neighbouring France, Italy, and Germany converged in Geneva last year to vote in the non-binding Khalistan referendum.
