ISLAMABAD: In the Toshakhana 2 case, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, failed to secure immediate relief from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas presided over the hearing of their acquittal pleas and issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), directing them to submit a response by January 28.
During the hearing, the defense counsel for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi requested the transfer of the case to another bench. Advocate Salman Safdar, representing the couple, argued that Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb had previously handled five related petitions and suggested that the acquittal pleas should also be referred to the same bench for consistency.
Justice Raja Inam Minhas clarified that the current proceedings were focused on acquittal petitions rather than bail applications. He stated that the court would proceed with the matter based on its merits.
Salman Safdar further requested a stay order on the trial proceedings in the Toshakhana 2 case.
However, Justice Minhas noted that there was no judicial precedent to halt criminal proceedings at this stage. The court decided to issue notices and hear arguments from both sides before delivering a decision.
