Gandapur Stresses May 9 Investigation Renewal After Meeting with Khan

May 9 Investigation

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has reiterated his call for a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9, following a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. The discussions during the meeting included final approval for KP’s cabinet and general political affairs in the country.

After the meeting, Gandapur emphasized that Khan remains resolute, expressing hope for the PTI chairman’s imminent release. He appealed to the chief justice to establish a commission, underlining that PTI’s workers, including women, are still detained in jails.

The cabinet composition for KP was also discussed, with Meena Khan Afridi, Qasim Ali Shah, Fazal Shakoor Khan, Taimu Saleem Jhagra, and Mian Khaleeq ur Rehman slated to be part of the cabinet from Peshawar division.

Malakand’s Shafiullah, Shakeel Khan, Dr Amjad Ali, Fazal Hakeem, Riaz Khan, Taj Muhammad, and Arshad Ayub from Hazara division will also receive portfolios. The cabinet from Mardan includes Zahir Shah Toor, Faisal Tarkai, Abdul Karim Tordher, and Aqibullah. Additionally, Zahidullah Wazir from Bannu and Aftab Alam Advocate from Kohat will join the cabinet.

Gandapur, elected as the 18th chief minister of the province on Friday, secured 90 votes in the KP Assembly.

His election took place after the Supreme Court stripped the PTI of its electoral symbol. Despite most PTI-backed lawmakers joining the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Gandapur, among the top leadership, chose not to join the SIC.

Overall, Gandapur reiterates demand for May 9 investigation post meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala jail for discussion on Cabinet approval.
