ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi police arrested former federal minister of PTI Ghulam Sarwar Khan and two others in a pre-dawn raid.

Police arrested Ghulam Sarwar, former MNA Mansoor Hayat and former MPA Ammar Siddique Khan during raid in connection with the May 9 riots.

Sajjadul Hassan, a spokesman for Rawalpindi police confirmed the arrests to the media.

According to PTI, police shifted Ghulam Sarwar and others to a police station in Taxila.

Former PTI minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan is among those named in the May 9 riots cases. Khan was on the hit list of the police since May 9 riots.

Importantly, Ghulam Sarwar Khan still did not announce his departure from the PTI. Hence, his arrest was on the cards.

Court issues non-bailable warrants for Imran Khan, others in May 9 riots

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI chief Imran Khan and several other former and current party leaders. They were involved in the May 9 riots.

About eight people died and 290 suffered injuries on May 9 soon after the arrest PTI chief which sparked violence in the country. Rangers arrested Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

Petition filed in IHC for recovery of Azam Khan

A nephew of Azam Khan today filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court for the recovery of missing Azam Khan. Former principal secretary to former prime minister Imran Khan went missing a few days ago.

Saeed Khan, nephew of Azam Khan filed the petition in the IHC on Tuesday through lawyer Qasim Wadood.

According to the petition, Azam Khan went when he left his home on June 15 at 7 o’clock in the evening.

Saeed Khan urged the IHC to issue orders to the relevant institutions for the recovery of Azam Khan.

The petitioner pointed out that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Azam Khan as a witness in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

The petition further highlighted that Azam Khan has faced harassment from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the past.
