CTD Islamabad summons Imran Khan, 17 other PTI leaders in vandalism case
ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Islamabad has summoned PTI chief Imran Khan and 17 other PTI leaders in vandalism case.
The CTD has registered a vandalism case against Imran Khan and some other PTI leaders during last visit of Khan to the Judicial Complex to appear in court cases.
The PTI leaders Imran Khan, Murad Saeed, Amir Kiyani, Amjad Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Dr Shehzad Wasim, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Amin Gandapur, Farrukh Habib, Omer Ayub, Hammad Azhar, Asad Qaiser, Hasaan Niazi, Amir Mughal, Jamshed Khan, Ali Nawaz Awan and Col (Retd) Asim will appear before the CTD officials today in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan and nine other PTI leaders have been summoned in a case lodged at the Golra police station.
Also, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) once again imposed ban on coverage of political gatherings and protests in Islamabad for today (Monday/March 27).
PEMRA notified the ban on political protests and gatherings just ahead of the
appearance of PTI chairman Imran Khan in different court cases in Islamabad on
Monday.
In its notification, PEMRA said, “Live or recorded coverage of any protest or public gatherings cannot be carried out.”
The Authority banned the live media coverage of protests and rallies under
Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002.
In case of violation of the ban, PEMRA said that the “license shall be
suspended under Section 30 (3) of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended by PEMRA
(Amendment) Act 2007, without any show cause notice in the public interest
along with other enabling provisions of law.”
Imran Khan appearing in courts in Islamabad
Meanwhile, the former prime minister and PTI chairman left his Zaman Park
residence in Lahore to appear before courts in different cases in Islamabad
today.
Khan is scheduled to appear in the Islamabad High Court and Judicial Complex
in connection with the hearing of cases on Monday.
Imran Khan will appear in the Islamabad High Court to seek bail in seven cases. Islamabad police have registered different cases, including vandalism at
the judicial complex during his last visit. Police also registered cases against
Khan, other PTI leaders, and activists at Islamabad’s Ramna, CTD, and Golra
police stations.
Islamabad Police arrested PTI activists
Last week, Islamabad police arrested 316 PTI supporters for their alleged
involvement in the violence and attacks on police.
The arrested PTI activists were involved in the provocation, arson, attacks
on police, and damaged public and private property.
Islamabad police disclosed this in a message it shared through its Twitter
account.
According to police, with the help of CCTVs and security cameras, police officials are identifying more PTI troublemakers and arresting them.
Several police teams are conducting raids in different areas to arrest more
PTI men wanted in arsons and attacks on police.
