Ch. Anwar-ul-Haq elected PM of AJK unopposed with support of PDM
MUZAFFARABAD/ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was elected unopposed as the new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir with the support of the PDM.
Haq belonged to the PTI’s forward bloc which foiled the chances for PTI to elect its MNA as PM of AJK.
Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq received 48 votes out of a total of 52 votes of the AJK Assembly. It is the biggest mandate in the history of the AJK assembly.

Four AJK lawmakers who did not vote include two PTI members, Sardar Atiq of the Muslim Conference and Sardar Hassan Ibrahim of the Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party.
Haq elected new PM after the AJK court disqualified Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in a contempt case.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan held a meeting with the ex-AJK PM in Lahore but the party could not nominate anyone for the PM post.
An emergency meeting of the AJK Legislative Assembly was convened on Thursday to elect the new prime minister.
A forward bloc of PTI and opposition parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supported Anwar-ul-Haq to become PM of AJK.
Moreover, in his maiden address to the assembly, Haq said that he contested the election as an independent candidate. He said that he got the support of both the PDM and PTI members.
Chaudhry also struck a chord with opposition parties and set a power-sharing formula with them.
