Lahore Police have arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) accused of sexually abusing a woman in Lahore. The arrest followed immediate action ordered by senior police officials after the incident came to light.
According to police, the accused officer, identified as Imran Anwar, was serving in the Investigation Branch of Ghaziabad Police Station. Meanwhile, authorities have launched an inquiry into the allegations.
Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza took immediate notice of the case. Consequently, he directed officials to initiate strict legal action against the accused officer.
DIG Orders Immediate Inquiry Into Incident
DIG Zeeshan Raza also suspended the Investigation Incharge of Ghaziabad Police Station. Officials said the suspension was ordered over alleged shortcomings in the initial investigation.
Furthermore, the DIG instructed investigators to conduct a transparent, impartial and merit-based inquiry. He emphasised that the investigation must proceed without favour or influence.
Police officials have not disclosed additional details regarding the allegations. However, they confirmed that the accused ASI has been taken into custody as legal proceedings continue.
Police Vow Strict Action Against Accused
DIG Zeeshan Raza said authorities would deal firmly with everyone found involved in the alleged abuse. Therefore, he stressed that no individual would receive preferential treatment during the investigation.
He also reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring accountability and upholding the rule of law. Moreover, officials said disciplinary and legal action would follow if the allegations are proven.
The inquiry will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any additional individuals who may have been involved. Meanwhile, police continue collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have assured that the case will be investigated professionally and according to the law. They also pledged to ensure transparency throughout the process while seeking justice for the complainant.
