High-Level Security Meeting Held in Quetta
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level security meeting in Quetta on Thursday after a series of deadly terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir attended the Provincial Apex Committee meeting. Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, and senior law enforcement officials were also present.
The meeting reviewed the latest law and order situation in the province. It also discussed recent terrorist attacks, security operations, and the implementation of the National Action Plan.
PM Says Fight Will Continue Until Terrorism Ends
Addressing the meeting, PM Shehbaz said the leadership had gathered in Balochistan after very serious incidents during the past four days. He said policemen, soldiers, and civilians had lost their lives in the attacks.
The prime minister said 54 terrorists had been killed during responses to the attacks and follow-up operations. He vowed that the fight against terrorism would continue until the last terrorist threat in Pakistan is eliminated.
PM Shehbaz said civil and military leadership had made a united decision to end terrorism. He said the government, armed forces, and law enforcement agencies would use all available resources to restore peace and stability.
Security Forcesโ Sacrifices Praised
The prime minister paid tribute to soldiers, police personnel, law enforcement officials, and civilians who lost their lives. He said their sacrifices would not go in vain.
PM Shehbaz said the entire nation stands with the armed forces and law enforcement agencies. He expressed hope that these sacrifices would lead to the complete defeat of terrorism.
The visit came after the military said at least 42 people had been killed in terrorist attacks and security operations in Balochistan since July 5. These included four civilians, 27 policemen, and 11 security personnel.
According to the military, three major incidents took place in recent days. These included an attack near Quetta on July 5, an assault on a police post in Ziarat on July 6, and an ambush on an army convoy in Bela.
The military also said 54 terrorists were killed during the same period. Officials warned that security forces would continue operations against attackers and their facilitators.
PM Shehbaz was received in Quetta by the Balochistan governor, chief minister, and senior civil and military officials. Federal ministers and advisers also accompanied him during the visit.
