Petrol prices in Pakistan have declined for the third consecutive day, offering slight relief to motorists amid persistently high fuel costs. The latest reduction brought the petrol price down by Rs 0.66 per litre, effective from October 10 to October 12, 2026.
Following the revision, petrol is selling at Rs 398.30 per litre, compared with Rs 398.96 previously. However, the reduction remains modest compared with the significant increases recorded in recent weeks.
Petrol Rates Show Mixed Trend
The latest adjustment reflects changing fuel prices, with petrol becoming slightly cheaper while high-speed diesel has moved in the opposite direction. Diesel prices increased by Rs 0.52 per litre, bringing the rate to Rs 396.24.
The government continues to monitor petroleum prices amid fluctuations in international energy markets. Fuel costs remain a concern for households, transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on petrol and diesel.
Earlier, petrol prices had climbed sharply following the outbreak of the US-Iran conflict in late February. The rate reached Rs 458.41 per litre on April 3 before subsequently declining.
Fuel Costs Continue To Pressure Consumers
Despite the latest reduction, petrol remains expensive for many consumers. High fuel costs have increased transportation expenses and added pressure on household budgets, particularly for people who depend on motorcycles and private vehicles for daily travel.
Meanwhile, the government has introduced fuel subsidy measures to support eligible low-income individuals, including motorcycle riders, rickshaw operators and small-car owners.
Authorities have allocated Rs 75 billion for the subsidy programme, which aims to ease the financial burden on vulnerable groups. However, the broader impact of fuel prices on transportation and living costs remains a concern.
The latest petrol reduction provides limited relief, while consumers continue to watch for further changes in domestic fuel prices.
