ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly rejected India’s criticism of its recent military operation against militant hideouts inside Afghanistan, describing New Delhi’s objections as baseless and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Foreign Office spokesperson **Tahir Andrabi** dismissed remarks made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs on June 29, calling them “a pack of lies.”
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s operation targeting terrorist networks operating from Afghan territory was a legitimate, proportionate, and necessary act of self-defence.
“Pakistan rejects the unfounded statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding Pakistan’s legitimate and targeted operation against terrorist networks in Afghanistan,” Andrabi said.
He added that it was “ridiculous and absurd” for a country that Pakistan accuses of interfering in the affairs of its neighbours and violating international law and the United Nations Charter to level such allegations against Islamabad.
The spokesperson also criticised India’s policies in Indian-administered Kashmir, alleging that New Delhi continues to deny the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination in violation of United Nations resolutions.
Andrabi further alleged that India has financed and supported militant groups operating from Afghan territory to carry out attacks against Pakistan, claiming such activities violate United Nations Security Council sanctions.
He accused India of contributing to regional instability and said its “false allegations and provocative rhetoric” against Pakistan should not be taken seriously.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the spokesperson said the country would continue to take all necessary and appropriate measures, in accordance with international law, to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.
India has rejected Pakistan’s allegations and has consistently denied supporting militant groups operating against Pakistan. The differing claims by both sides remain disputed.
