The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP), operating under the Ministry of Interior, has renewed its commitment to providing accessible, reliable, and citizen-focused passport services for Pakistanis at home and abroad. At the same time, the department has encouraged applicants to use its official support channels for passport-related guidance, complaints, and feedback.
The initiative aims to improve customer experience and ensure that citizens receive timely assistance. Moreover, the department wants to strengthen transparency and make passport services more efficient through better communication.
Citizens seeking information about passport-related matters can contact the official Passport Helpline (UAN) at 051-111-344-777. In addition, applicants can submit complaints and share feedback through the Pakistan Citizen Portal.
According to the department, public feedback plays an important role in improving service quality. Therefore, authorities have urged citizens to use these official platforms whenever they need assistance or wish to report service-related issues.
Focus on Better Customer Support
The DGIP stated that it remains committed to providing secure and transparent passport services. Furthermore, the department continues to improve its complaint resolution system so applicants can receive quicker responses.
Officials believe that easier access to support channels will help resolve passport-related concerns more effectively. As a result, citizens can expect a more streamlined process while interacting with passport authorities.
The department also emphasized that improving customer support remains one of its top priorities. Consequently, official helplines and digital platforms will continue to play a key role in delivering better public services.
Pakistan Moving Towards a Fully Digital Passport System
Meanwhile, Pakistan is gradually replacing traditional Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) with a fully integrated e-passport system. The move is part of the government’s broader effort to modernize travel documentation through digital technology.
Under the proposed system, citizens will eventually be able to apply for passports online, pay the required fees digitally, and receive their passports at their doorstep. The initiative is expected to simplify the application process while reducing unnecessary visits to passport offices.
Officials believe the transition will make passport services more convenient for citizens across Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis alike.
DG Passports Highlights Progress on E-Passports
Director General of Passports Muhammad Abdul Khaliq said Pakistan introduced its first e-passport in 2022. However, the initial system was not fully integrated with international e-gates.
He explained that the system underwent a major upgrade in 2025. As a result, it now complies with international standards and offers stronger security features.
The latest e-passports use laser engraving technology along with digital security certificates. These improvements make the documents significantly more resistant to forgery while enhancing overall travel document security.
Digital Transformation Aims to Improve Public Services
The government’s digital passport initiative reflects its efforts to modernize public services and improve convenience for citizens. Besides enhancing security, the new system seeks to reduce processing delays and provide applicants with easier access to passport facilities.
At the same time, the DGIP continues to encourage citizens to use its official helpline and Pakistan Citizen Portal for assistance, feedback, and complaint registration. Authorities believe active public participation will help further improve passport services and strengthen trust in the system.
