Pakistan has taken another step towards strengthening diplomatic relations with Sudan by signing a visa-free travel agreement for official and diplomatic passport holders.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sudanese Interior Minister Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali signed the agreement. The arrangement will allow eligible Pakistani and Sudanese officials to travel between the two countries without obtaining visas.
However, the facility applies specifically to holders of valid official and diplomatic passports. It does not extend to ordinary passport holders.
Pakistan and Sudan Sign Visa-Free Travel Agreement
The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations while making official travel between Pakistan and Sudan more convenient.
Following the signing, both interior ministers welcomed the arrangement and described it as an important development in diplomatic cooperation.
Moreover, the agreement will simplify official visits and facilitate exchanges between government delegations. It will also create opportunities for stronger institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Under the new arrangement, Pakistani and Sudanese citizens holding valid official or diplomatic passports can enter each other’s countries without obtaining visas.
Consequently, eligible government representatives will face fewer administrative requirements when travelling for official engagements and diplomatic activities.
What Does the Agreement Mean for Pakistani Passport Holders?
The new agreement provides visa-free access specifically for Pakistani citizens travelling on valid official and diplomatic passports.
Similarly, Sudanese officials holding the relevant passport categories will receive the same facility when visiting Pakistan.
However, ordinary Pakistani passport holders cannot automatically benefit from this arrangement. The agreement specifically covers official and diplomatic travel rather than general tourism or private visits.
Therefore, travellers should distinguish between diplomatic visa exemptions and broader visa-free travel arrangements.
Pakistan and Sudan Seek Stronger Bilateral Cooperation
Both ministers described the agreement as an important step towards improving relations and expanding cooperation.
Sudan’s Interior Minister said the arrangement would further strengthen the friendly relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral ties and improving cooperation across institutional channels.
The agreement also reflects their shared interest in facilitating government-level engagement and making official exchanges more efficient.
Through this arrangement, Pakistan and Sudan aim to strengthen diplomatic interaction while creating smoother travel arrangements for eligible representatives.
Although the agreement does not introduce visa-free entry for ordinary passport holders, it marks another development in relations between Islamabad and Khartoum.
