Parents looking for a phone that keeps their children connected without exposing them to endless apps and distractions may have a new option. Nokia has introduced the 2360 Flip, a basic mobile phone that allows family members to manage important settings remotely.
Developed by HMD, the new handset combines traditional flip-phone design with modern safety features. It targets children, senior citizens and users who prefer simple communication over a full smartphone experience.
Its biggest attraction is the Family Assist feature, which allows relatives to control selected settings through an app on their own smartphones.
Family Assist Makes Remote Control Possible
The free Family Assist app is available for Android and iOS devices. It allows family members to add contacts, set reminders, adjust volume and manage emergency settings remotely.
Interestingly, the system works through SMS. This means the Nokia 2360 Flip does not require a mobile internet connection for remote management.
Parents can also use its built-in controls to restrict calls and messages to approved contacts. Its School Mode limits the device to displaying the clock and allowing emergency calls.
The restrictions are protected through a Family PIN, giving parents additional control over how children use the handset.
SOS Button Adds an Extra Safety Feature
The phone also includes a dedicated emergency SOS button. Holding it for three seconds automatically calls a preset number and sends emergency messages to up to five selected contacts.
This feature could prove useful for children and older family members who may need quick access to assistance.
Classic Design With Two Displays
The Nokia 2360 Flip features a 2.8-inch main display and a smaller 1.77-inch external screen. Its physical keypad, large icons and simple menus make navigation easier. The handset also includes a basic camera, FM radio, USB-C charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It comes with a removable 1,450mAh battery, offering up to 15 days of standby time and 27.5 hours of talk time, according to HMD.
One Important Catch: No 4G Support
Despite its modern safety features, the Nokia 2360 Flip supports only 2G networks. This limitation could restrict its usefulness in areas where older mobile networks have been discontinued.
The phone will come in Charcoal, Burgundy Red and Teal. However, HMD has not announced its official price or confirmed availability in different markets.
