A 35-year-old man allegedly entered the international departure area of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport without a ticket or passport.
The man reportedly spent some time inside the airport lounge before attempting to leave. ASF personnel became suspicious when they noticed him heading towards the exit.
Man Caught Without Travel Documents
Security personnel initially failed to notice that the man had entered the restricted departure area without travel documents.
ASF officials stopped him near the exit and carried out a security check. During the inspection, they found that he did not have a passport or travel ticket.
The ASF then took the suspect into custody and handed him over to the police for further investigation.
Police recovered an identity card from the man and identified him as 35-year-old Ahmed Ali Shahbaz.
Police Register Fraud Case
Police have registered a fraud case against Ahmed Ali at Sarwar Road Police Station.
Investigators are questioning the suspect about how he entered the international departure area without the required documents.
Authorities are also examining other circumstances surrounding the incident. They are trying to determine how long the man remained inside the airport lounge.
Inquiry Into Airport Security
An internal inquiry is also examining the role of ASF personnel and other officials deployed at the airport.
Officials will review the security procedures followed during the incident. The investigation will also determine how the suspect passed through the airport without a ticket or passport.
Meanwhile, police continue to question Ahmed Ali as part of their investigation.
The incident has raised questions about security checks at the airport’s international departure area. Authorities are now reviewing the circumstances to identify any gaps in the existing security process.
