An alleged attempt to take a newborn from the Mother and Child Centre at PIMS was stopped before the infant could leave the hospital.
Hospital security staff became suspicious and intervened at the right moment. Police subsequently detained three women and safely recovered the newborn.
The incident occurred at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where the women allegedly tried to remove the baby from the nursery.
How Was the Newborn Recovered?
According to PIMS sources, the women allegedly attempted to take the newborn out of the nursery. A minor girl accompanying the group was carrying the baby as they approached the hospital exit.
However, the security guard on duty noticed something suspicious about the women and the girl. He stopped them at the hospital gate before they could leave the premises.
The guard then recovered the newborn and handed the matter over to police for further action.
Women Detained After Alleged Attempt
Police launched a preliminary investigation after receiving the newborn and taking the suspects into custody.
Initial findings suggest that the women allegedly gained access to the baby by deceiving the child’s mother. They reportedly approached the infant while pretending to show affection and care.
The circumstances surrounding their access to the newborn are now being examined as part of the investigation.
The three detained women have been shifted to the Women Police Station. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to determine what happened inside the hospital.
Suspects Reportedly From Lahore
Initial information indicates that the alleged group belongs to Lahore. However, investigators are still examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The presence of a minor girl carrying the newborn has also become part of the investigation. Authorities are expected to establish the exact role of those involved.
For now, the newborn has been safely recovered following the timely intervention of hospital security staff.
