The prestigious ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ award has been bestowed upon Saudi Arabia’s Prince Khalid bin Salman

Islamabad – President Asif Ali Zardari bestowed Pakistan’s supreme civilian honor, “Nishan-e-Pakistan,” upon Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, on a Saturday ceremony.

The esteemed Saudi dignitary, serving as the chief guest at the Pakistan Day parade, was honored for his significant contributions in “supporting Pakistan and its citizens, bolstering defense collaboration, fostering stronger bilateral relationships, and aiding regional peace initiatives.”

The event, hosted at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, saw the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and other high-ranking officials.

According to the Saudi embassy’s website, Prince Khalid has held significant roles in the past, such as serving as the Kingdom’s ambassador to the United States, an adviser at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, and a member of the Saudi Ministry of Defence.

Upon completing his education at the King Faisal Air Academy in Riyadh, the Saudi defense minister proceeded to join the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). Throughout his career, he has held roles as an F-15 pilot and a tactical intelligence officer.

In addition to his training in the United States, the esteemed individual has also pursued advanced studies in electronic warfare in France.

Previously, The News announced that upon his visit to Pakistan, the Saudi prince is expected to engage in discussions with President Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz.

According to reports, it has been revealed that Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman is scheduled to visit Pakistan following the celebration of Eidul Fitr, as he has been invited by Prime Minister Shehbaz.

In the recent days, Prince Khalid’s visit follows a meeting that General Munir had with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz during his official trip to the Gulf nation.

In the meeting, various topics of shared concern were addressed, such as regional peace and security, as well as bilateral defense and security collaboration. As reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these matters were discussed.
