Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif embarks on a significant diplomatic journey as he heads to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today to participate in the World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development.
The prime minister’s attendance at this prestigious event comes following invitations extended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Prof Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.
A primary focus of Prime Minister Sharif’s engagement will be to articulate Pakistan’s stance on various global issues including global health, financial technologies, information technology, comprehensive development, regional cooperation, and sustainable energy utilization in the context of global development.
Furthermore, he aims to showcase the abundant investment prospects available in Pakistan to the international community during the WEF summit.
Moreover, on the sidelines of the forum, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with influential world leaders, heads of international organizations, and other prominent dignitaries.
Accompanying him will be key members of the federal cabinet, including Ishaq Dar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musadik Malik, Attaullah Tarar, and a delegation from the SIFC.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation are set to reach Riyadh via a special flight. During his three-day visit, he is expected to engage in crucial discussions with the Saudi crown prince, with Mohammed bin Salman hosting a dinner in honor of the World Economic Forum participants.
In a significant addition to his diplomatic itinerary, Prime Minister Sharif is also slated to visit Gambia on May 4 and 5 to attend the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit.
At the summit, he intends to address pressing issues concerning the Muslim world, including the plight of Gaza, the right to self-determination for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir, escalating Islamophobia, and terrorism, among other global concerns.
Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif is poised to underscore Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and advocating for the rights of marginalized communities.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is also scheduled to participate in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Gambia on May 2 and 3, where he is anticipated to hold discussions with counterparts from other Muslim nations.
