PDMA has issued a warning of rainfall and a heat wave expected across the country in May

There is a possibility of light rain in various areas of the country, with northern Punjab anticipated to encounter moderate rainfall.

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory cautioning of potential rainfall in Lahore and nationwide later this month.

This forecast is accompanied by an expected rise in heat intensity, raising apprehensions about a potential heat wave in southern regions.

As per a PDMA spokesperson, light rain is anticipated in several regions of the country, while moderate rainfall is expected in northern Punjab. The PDMA has advised farmers in Punjab’s Pothohar areas to take precautionary measures to safeguard their wheat crops ahead of the expected rainfall.

Alongside the potential for rainfall, the PDMA underscored the threat of landslides in mountainous regions, stressing the importance of vigilance and readiness among residents and authorities. “We anticipate a rise in heat intensity during May,” the spokesperson declared.

“The atmospheric conditions in southern regions of the country could trigger a heat wave, especially affecting the plains,” cautioned the spokesperson.

The spokesperson also mentioned that major cities will be particularly affected by the heat wave, while the Punjab Disaster Management Authority director general has instructed the administration to remain vigilant regarding the weather conditions.
