Pakistan Navy Gears Up to Host 9th International Aman Exercise

Pakistan Navy

The Pakistan Navy is preparing to host AMAN-25, the ninth edition of its flagship multinational maritime exercise, scheduled to take place from February 7 to 11.

This year’s exercise will introduce a significant new feature, the International AMAN Dialogue, where Chiefs of Naval Forces, heads of Coast Guards, and senior maritime leaders from around the world will convene to discuss regional maritime security challenges and develop joint strategies to counter evolving threats at sea.

AMAN-25 is set to witness participation from approximately 60 countries, each contributing through various means such as ships, aircraft, Special Operations Forces (SOF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, Marines, and observers.

Additionally, delegations from across the globe will attend the inaugural AMAN Dialogue, highlighting the exercise’s growing prominence as a platform for fostering maritime cooperation and collective security.

Launched in 2007, the AMAN series has become a cornerstone of the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to promote regional peace and global maritime collaboration.

The first AMAN exercise began with the participation of 28 countries, and by 2023, the number had expanded to 50, including major naval powers.

This steady growth underscores the initiative’s success in uniting nations under its guiding principle: “Together for Peace.” The theme for AMAN-25, “Secure Seas; Prosperous Future,” emphasizes the critical link between maritime security and global prosperity.

The exercise is divided into two key phases: the harbour phase and the sea phase. During the harbour phase, participants will engage in a range of activities, including seminars, operational discussions, counter-terrorism demonstrations, and pre-sail planning for coordinated operations at sea.

The sea phase will feature a series of advanced maritime security exercises, including tactical maneuvers, anti-piracy operations, counter-terrorism drills, search and rescue missions, gunnery firings, and air defense exercises.

A highlight of the sea phase will be the International Fleet Review, showcasing the diversity and strength of participating navies.

The AMAN-25 exercise reaffirms the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and cooperation on the high seas. It serves as a vital platform for strengthening partnerships and addressing shared maritime challenges in pursuit of a secure and prosperous future.
