ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif rejects media reports suggesting that the government is considering Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as the caretaker prime minister.
Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House on Monday, Khawaja Asif clarified that there is no truth to these reports and that work on this matter has not even begun, of which he is not aware.
While Asif has no objections to Dar becoming the caretaker prime minister, he does not believe it is a favorable idea. He mentioned their close friendship and the time they spent together in jail during Musharraf’s era.
However, he expressed concerns that if the caretaker prime minister is chosen from the ruling party, it might raise objections from the public.
Regarding Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan, Asif stated that Sharif will indeed come back home, and there is no doubt about it.
