IDEAS 2024: Road Closures in Karachi Announced

Karachi: Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan to manage the expected surge in traffic during the IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition, which will take place at the Expo Centre from November 19th to 22nd. The plan includes several road closures and traffic diversions to ensure smooth movement around the event.

Key restrictions include:

  • Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium Road: Closed from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily during the exhibition. Both flyovers leading to the stadium will also be closed to traffic.
  • Dalmia Road: The road from Stadium Flyover to Hassan Square via Dalmia Road will be inaccessible.
  • University Road (NIPA to Expo Centre): The left turn from University Road towards the Expo Centre will be closed.
  • Karsaz Road Off Shahrah-e-Faisal: Heavy and commercial vehicles, including water tankers, will be banned from using this road.
  • Stadium Road (Rashid Minhas Road to Expo Centre): Heavy and commercial traffic will be diverted away from Stadium Road, with alternative routes provided via NIPA, Askari 4, Shahrah-e-Faisal, or NIPA Chowrangi.
  • Routes from NIPA to Hassan Square & Jail Chowrangi to Hassan Square: Closed to heavy and commercial vehicles.

Alternative Routes:

  • Commercial vehicles are advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti Road.
  • Vehicles approaching from NIPA and Gulshan Chowrangi should use Sehrāb Goth or Drigh Road.
  • Traffic police strongly recommend that all heavy and commercial vehicles utilize Drigh Road for smoother travel during the exhibition.
  • Motorists are urged to plan their routes in advance and follow traffic police instructions to minimize disruptions during the event.
