Special Protection Force

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi plans to establish a special protection force for foreign nationals’ security in the federal capital. This move comes as part of a broader effort to bolster law and order measures in the region.

During a meeting focused on the prevailing law and order situation, Minister Naqvi stressed the imperative of ensuring foolproof security arrangements for foreign nationals residing in the area.

He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, particularly around key offices and locations, including the highly sensitive red zone in Islamabad.

Highlighting the importance of modernizing security infrastructure, Minister Naqvi underscored the necessity of equipping the Islamabad Safe City project with state-of-the-art technologies akin to those employed in the Lahore Safe City project.

He expressed optimism regarding ongoing efforts to improve the conditions of police stations across Islamabad, assuring visible progress in the coming months.

In a bid to combat the menace of drug trafficking, Minister Naqvi issued directives for a stringent crackdown on criminal gangs involved in the illegal sale and purchase of narcotics.

He emphasized the utilization of modern technology to bring these illicit activities under the purview of the law.

Furthermore, Minister Naqvi categorically stated a zero-tolerance policy towards the sale of intoxicants, including the dangerous substance known as “ice,” in proximity to educational institutions.

He emphasized the detrimental impact of drug peddlers on the nation’s youth and pledged the harshest penalties for offenders.

In addition to addressing drug-related issues, Minister Naqvi instructed for decisive action against the beggar mafia, urging for a comprehensive strategy to tackle traffic congestion within the capital.

The Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, provided a detailed briefing during the meeting, shedding light on the prevailing law and order situation and outlining strategies for its improvement.

Overall, Minister Naqvi’s directives underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures and ensuring the safety and well-being of both domestic and foreign residents within the federal capital territory.
