Heavy snowfall envelops the upper regions of Dir and Lowari Tunnel

ISLAMABAD: Intermittent rain drenches the city, while heavy snowfall persists in the upper regions of Dir.

According to tunnel authorities, over 10 inches of snow has accumulated near the Lowari Tunnel. Snow-clearing operations are in progress on Lowari Road using heavy machinery. Meanwhile, the district administration has advised motorists to equip their vehicles with snow chains for safe travel along the route.

The Meteorological Department forecasts continued rain and snowfall in the region over the next three days.

A frontal weather system remains active over the upper parts of the country and is expected to persist until the morning of January 6th.

Similar conditions are forecast, with rain and mountain snowfall expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding areas. Moderate to dense fog will likely persist in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, especially during morning and nighttime hours.
