In Lahore, an anti-terrorism court issued bailable arrest warrants for 14 suspects, who are currently out on bail, for their absence during trial proceedings for two cases linked to the May 9 riots.
Judge Arshad Javed instructed the police to ensure the presence of nine suspects involved in the Jinnah House attack case and five others connected to the Askari Tower case by May 15.
Additionally, the judge mandated the suspects to provide updated bail bonds before their court appearance.
Among the suspects are Attaur Rehman, Abdul Rehman, Ikramullah, Abdul Hadi, Amanullah, Ali Hassan, Shahbaz Siddique, Rubina Rizwan, Irfan Jamil, Saeed Shah, Mohsin Gull Agha, and Muhammad Parvez.
In a bail decision, an ATC on Friday approved interim pre-arrest bail for Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and his wife, Musarrat Iqbal Cheema, former leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, in seven additional cases related to the May 9 riots. They were instructed to participate in the investigation.
Judge Arshad Javed granted the bail requests of the couple until May 21, pending the submission of surety bonds valued at Rs100,000 each.
They applied for bail in cases involving assaults on Askari Tower, Shadman police station, PML-N party offices, and various other locations.
Back in February, the couple turned themselves in to the court after being declared proclaimed offenders in numerous cases related to the May 9 riots.
