The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has shared an easy procedure for citizens seeking to change their residential addresses on Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs). The facility allows applicants to update their identity details through the PakID mobile application or by visiting a nearby registration centre.
The initiative aims to simplify identity card services and help citizens maintain accurate residential records. Moreover, applicants can complete several modification steps from home without visiting a NADRA office.
According to NADRA’s guidelines, citizens must provide valid documents supporting their new residential addresses. The required documents may vary depending on whether applicants want to update their temporary or permanent addresses.
Documents Required For CNIC Address Change
For a temporary address change, applicants can submit a tenancy agreement, property registry or allotment letter. They may also provide a utility bill or a blood relative’s or spouse’s CNIC showing the same address.
However, permanent address changes require supporting documents such as property ownership papers, utility bills or a domicile certificate. These documents must carry the applicant’s, parent’s or spouse’s name.
NADRA has also clarified that applicants cannot use their married sister’s address for residential verification. Therefore, citizens should arrange acceptable documentation before submitting applications.
How To Change Address Through PakID App
Applicants can follow these steps to update their CNIC information online:
- Download and log in to the official PakID mobile application.
- Select the Identity Card option from the home screen.
- Choose Myself or My Blood Relatives, depending on the application.
- Select Update Card to access modification services.
- Enter the new address and upload the required documents.
- Complete the verification process and pay the applicable fee.
Alternatively, citizens can visit their nearest NADRA Registration Centre for assistance.
NADRA’s official fee structure lists CNIC modification charges at Rs 400 for normal processing, Rs 1,150 for urgent processing and Rs 2,150 for executive processing.
The authority encourages citizens to keep their identity information updated to avoid complications during official transactions.
