KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau has taken strong action against Bahria Town Karachi by freezing a grand mansion linked to property tycoon Malik Riaz and thousands of acres of land across the massive housing project.
Major crackdown on alleged illegal holdings
NAB officials froze the famous 67-acre “Ali Villa” located in Bahria Hills. Reports describe the estate as a luxurious property that features a helipad and even a mini zoo.
Moreover, NAB froze another 3,150 acres connected to Bahria Town 2. Officials claim that developers fraudulently acquired this land from the forest department and incorporated it into the project. They declared all these properties as belonging to the Sindh government and issued clear instructions to stop any sale or transfer.
Orders ban future transactions
The Director General of NAB Karachi issued a formal order that bars Bahria Town from selling, transferring, or creating any new rights over the frozen land. Relevant government departments now monitor the sites closely to enforce the restrictions and protect public assets.
This operation marks another significant move by NAB against large-scale real estate projects in Sindh. Many observers see it as part of a wider drive to recover alleged illegally obtained land and ensure accountability in the housing sector. Malik Riaz and Bahria Town have faced similar legal challenges in the past.
The development has drawn considerable attention from investors and property buyers in Karachi. Authorities continue their investigation into how these lands changed hands originally. Residents and stakeholders now wait to see the full impact of this major freeze on the ongoing projects in Bahria Town.
