The Islamabad High Court has granted protective bail to Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlu, whose real name is Ansar. The court directed him to approach the relevant court by November 10 and restrained authorities from arresting him until then.
His court appearance attracted attention after he arrived in a wheelchair, with his face covered by a cap and mask. Lawyers and associates accompanied him and carried him down the courthouse stairs.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar issued the protective bail order. Mr Patlu had filed a petition through his lawyer, Qasim Nawaz Abbasi, in connection with a case registered against him in Sialkot.
Mr Patlu Appears in Wheelchair During Court Hearing
The TikToker’s appearance presented a contrast with his recent public activity. Just days earlier, he had been seen dancing at his own mehndi ceremony.
However, during the court proceedings, he arrived seated in a wheelchair and appeared unwell. His lawyers and associates helped him leave the court by carrying him down the stairs.
The court granted him protection from arrest until November 10. It also directed him to appear before the relevant court within that period.
Lawyer Says Mr Patlu Was Not Present During Incident
Speaking to the media, lawyer Qasim Nawaz Abbasi rejected allegations against his client and called for a proper investigation.
Abbasi said Ansar’s name did not appear on the no-objection certificate (NOC) issued by the administration. He maintained that organisers had fulfilled all legal requirements, obtained necessary permits and followed the applicable regulations.
Furthermore, the lawyer argued that his client should not face responsibility for any breach of NOC conditions. He also claimed Ansar was not present at the location when the incident occurred.
According to Abbasi, his client was receiving hospital treatment for injuries he had sustained.
Lawyer Holds Administration Responsible for Law and Order
Abbasi also questioned the administration’s handling of the incident, arguing that officials were responsible for maintaining law and order.
He alleged that the administration had failed to fulfil its responsibilities and was now attempting to shift the blame onto his client. Moreover, he accused officials of distorting the facts to implicate Ansar.
The lawyer maintained that authorities should establish what happened through an investigation. He also rejected what he described as unjustified action against his client.
Meanwhile, the court’s protective bail order gives Mr Patlu until November 10 to approach the relevant court. His legal position will be addressed through the proceedings.
