ISLAMABAD: The federal government has introduced major administrative changes at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), including another change in the hospital’s top management.
According to the report, Dr Muhammad Salman has been removed from the position of Executive Director of PIMS. Dr Tanveer Khaliq has subsequently been assigned additional charge of the post.
The latest reshuffle comes amid continuing changes in the administrative structure of the country’s largest public-sector medical complex. The government has made several adjustments to senior positions at PIMS as part of its ongoing administrative arrangements.
Dr Tanveer Khaliq will now oversee the responsibilities associated with the Executive Director’s office in addition to his existing duties. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity in the hospital’s administrative and operational affairs.
PIMS provides a wide range of specialised medical services and serves patients from Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas. The institution also plays an important role in medical education, training and healthcare delivery.
The change in leadership comes at a time when the hospital continues to manage a large patient load and extensive administrative responsibilities.
The federal government has yet to provide detailed reasons for Dr Muhammad Salman’s removal or explain how long Dr Tanveer Khaliq will retain the additional charge.
The latest development is part of a broader series of administrative decisions involving senior officials at PIMS. Further changes could follow as the authorities review the institution’s management structure.
Officials are expected to issue additional notifications or clarifications regarding the new administrative arrangements and the permanent appointment to the Executive Director position.
