Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid Rs27.194 million toward the expenses of the government aircraft used during her recent London visit.
Payment documents show that a cheque worth Rs27,194,004 was deposited at the National Bank of Pakistan’s Valencia Branch in Lahore. The amount was deposited into the Punjab government’s treasury account.
The payment was made through a Bank of Punjab cheque, according to the available payment details. The bank pay-in slip carries the date September 17, 2026, while the depositor is recorded as citizen Umar Abbas.
Payment Follows Earlier Government Assurance
The payment comes after the Punjab government previously stated that Maryam Nawaz would personally cover the aircraft expenses.
Her London visit had attracted attention because she used the provincial government’s official aircraft for a private trip. She travelled to London to attend the graduation ceremony of her daughter, Mahnoor Safdar.
The chief minister later returned to Lahore after the visit. The Punjab government maintained that the expenses associated with the trip would not ultimately be borne by the provincial exchequer.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari also rejected allegations that public funds would cover the trip.
“Absolutely incorrect. The Punjab chief minister paid all expenses for her London trip out of her own pocket,” she said in a post on X.
