PTI Declares ‘Massive’ KP Rally in Support of Judges

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared its intention to stage a significant protest rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scheduled for Sunday, to demonstrate solidarity with six Islamabad High Court judges who have recently accused the country’s intelligence agencies of interfering in judicial matters.

Barrister Gohar and Sher Afzal Marwat disclosed these plans during a press conference held in Islamabad, emphasizing that the rally would be held in Peshawar but would draw participants from all districts spanning from DI Khan to Chitral.

Expressing unwavering support for the judges who penned a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, accusing intelligence agencies of undue influence, Barrister Gohar highlighted the rally’s aim to safeguard judicial independence and secure the release of Imran Khan, denoted as Prisoner Number 804 in Adiala jail.

Sher Afzal Marwat indicated that the precise details of the rally would be finalized following consultations with authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Notably, the event’s agenda encompasses not only the protection of judicial autonomy but also echoes sentiments reminiscent of the lawyers’ movement of 2007, as articulated by Latif Khosa.

Additionally, Marwat announced PTI’s plans to organize another rally in Islamabad on March 30, citing approval from the Islamabad High Court. This dual-pronged approach underscores the party’s commitment to amplifying its message across multiple platforms and regions.

The decision to hold these rallies reflects escalating tensions between the judiciary and intelligence agencies in Pakistan. PTI’s proactive stance underscores its determination to challenge perceived infringements upon judicial independence, signaling a potential escalation in the ongoing power struggle within the country’s political landscape.

As PTI mobilizes its supporters for these rallies, the political climate in Pakistan appears increasingly charged, with the outcome of these demonstrations likely to shape the trajectory of future developments, both within the judiciary and across the broader political spectrum.
