PM Shehbaz Sharif Launches Free E-Bike Program for Students

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a new initiative aimed at distributing electric motorcycles to top-performing students in government schools. This program, unveiled during a meeting dedicated to advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan, mirrors the previous laptop distribution scheme that rewarded academic excellence.

Under the new initiative, selected students from government schools who demonstrate outstanding performance will receive electric motorcycles. This effort is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable transportation and reduce environmental impact.

In addition to this, Prime Minister Sharif has mandated the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to create a comprehensive plan for implementing electric-powered public transportation in Islamabad. This initiative is intended to modernize the city’s public transport infrastructure and align with the government’s environmental goals.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister has directed all federal ministries to transition to exclusively purchasing electric motorcycles for their departmental needs moving forward. This directive aims to conserve national resources and reduce expenditure by embracing more cost-effective and environmentally friendly transportation options.

Overall, the introduction of electric motorcycles for students, alongside the push for electric public transport and the shift in procurement policies for federal departments, underscores the government’s commitment to advancing green technology and sustainable practices in Pakistan.
