The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has dismissed its Director General, Zulfiqar Ahmed, after an inquiry revealed his academic credentials were fraudulent. This decision follows a thorough investigation into Ahmed’s qualifications, which included verification by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
HEC determined that Ahmed’s MBA degree, purportedly from Mason University in the United States, was fake. Further scrutiny revealed inconsistencies in his BBA degree, as the issuing college’s records did not align with the information provided by Ahmed.
The Islamabad High Court supported HEC’s decision to revoke the equivalency of Ahmed’s MBA degree. Consequently, NADRA issued a show-cause notice to Ahmed, asking for an explanation. However, his response failed to address the allegations convincingly.
Considering the court’s verdict and Ahmed’s failure to provide adequate justification, NADRA’s chairman officially terminated his employment. An official notification regarding this action has been issued.
This case underscores the importance of authentic academic credentials for individuals holding critical public sector positions. NADRA’s swift action reflects its commitment to maintaining integrity and professionalism within its ranks.
