On Wednesday, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underscored the significance of promoting tourism as a means to bolster the country’s economic stability.
Kundi convened at the Department of Tourism where he engaged in discussions with Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, the Sindh Minister for Culture, Heritage, and Tourism.
During their meeting, Kundi and Shah recognized the immense potential for tourism development in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh. Kundi emphasized the abundance of captivating destinations in both provinces that could be leveraged to attract tourists. He remarked that promoting tourism could serve as a catalyst for economic growth, offering opportunities for job creation and revenue generation.
In agreement, Shah highlighted the importance of uplifting the tourism sector to attract foreign visitors, particularly by focusing on religious tourism sites which hold significant appeal for international tourists. He stressed the need for concerted efforts to enhance infrastructure and amenities at these locations to ensure a memorable experience for visitors.
Separately, Kundi commended the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its consistent advocacy for the rights of laborers and marginalized communities. Speaking in honor of International Labour Day, Kundi lauded the PPP’s efforts in improving the livelihoods of laborers by advocating for increased wages, pensions, and privileges for government employees. He credited the PPP for prioritizing the interests of the people of Sindh and Balochistan whenever the party assumed power.
Kundi’s remarks underscored the importance of tourism as a key driver of economic development and emphasized the PPP’s commitment to social welfare and labor rights. Moving forward, collaborative efforts between provincial governments and relevant stakeholders will be essential to capitalize on the potential of tourism and ensure sustainable growth while addressing the needs of the labor force and underprivileged segments of society.
