Fat-burning injections result in flesh-eating illness for influencer Beatriz Amma

ISLAMABAD: Popular American fitness influencer, Beatriz Amma, aged 23, known for her luxurious lifestyle and fame, endured a horrifying ordeal after opting for a fat-burning procedure at a spa.

What seemed like a harmless process involving painless injections turned into a nightmare during an $800 treatment at a luxury spa. The procedure included a series of vitamin injections containing vitamins B1 and C, along with fast-dissolving deoxycholic acid.

During the treatment, Amma received a total of 60 injections: 10 in each arm, and 20 each in her back and stomach. However, the luxury experience took a dreadful turn when she developed sickness, chills, and a fever overnight after the injections, with her skin beginning to rot.

Amma had to be urgently hospitalized, and she recollects, “During that time I was just rotting in bed. I couldn’t even put clothes on. I needed help going to the restroom. I needed help showering and changing.”

Doctors determined that she had developed necrosis, likely due to improper injection of deoxycholic acid, leading to ‘mycobacterium abscessus,’ a flesh-eating skin disease.

Amma recalled her harrowing experience, saying, “I prayed to God and said ‘If this is my time, take me.’ My body had lost the fight. I remember just being in so much pain that I thought I was going to die that night. I couldn’t fight anymore.”

Regarding the spa responsible for her ordeal, Amma noted, “It all looked super legit, clean, professional. [A worker] said it was made by a really reputable company and she showed me the vials. I was excited.”
