Ex-DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor appointed Commander of XII Corps in Quetta

Commander XII Corps Lt Gen. Sarfraz Ali, along with five others, embraced martyrdom in helicopter crash during relief operations in Quetta’s Lasbela district on Monday.

ISLAMABAD: Former DG ISPR and Lt-General Asif Ghafoor has been appointed as the Commander XII Corps (Quetta), in place of Lt-Gen Sarfraz Ali, who was martyred in a helicopter crash on Aug 1.

Earlier, Lt-Gen Ghafoor has served as the Director General of the ISPR, army’s media wing.

In his new role, Ghafoor has been posted in place of Lt-General Sarfraz Ali, who embraced martyrdom in a helicopter crash due to bad weather during flood relief operations in Lasbela, Balochistan, on 1 August 2022 (Monday), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Five other martyred servicemen were Brig. Amjad Hanif, Brig. Muhammad Khalid, Major Saeed Ahmed, Major Muhammad Talha Manan and Naik Mudassir Fayyaz.
