ECP warns Imran Khan and Fawad Ch of issuing their arrest warrants for skipping the contempt case hearing

The Election Commission of Pakistan today warned former prime minister Imran Khan and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry of issuing their arrest warrants if they failed to appear in the contempt case hearing again.

The ECP said this while hearing a contempt case against ex-PM Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, and Asad Umar.

The members of the ECP expressed their anger over the absence of the PTI chairman and Fawad Chaudhry and warned that their warrants will be issued in case of non-appearance at the next hearing.

On Tuesday, Imran Khan filed an application for exemption from appearance in the contempt case. His lawyer Faisal Chaudhry contended that Imran was appearing in the NAB and accountability courts in different cases.

Faisal Chaudhry urged the ECP to fix the hearing for June 5 and he will present his arguments in the case.

Chaudhry pointed out that 150 cases have been registered against Imran Khan, he could not appear in all of them.

However, the ECP member from KP said that how the courts can hear cases according to the choice of former PM Imran Khan.

The Commission, therefore, ordered the PTI leaders to appear in the next hearing, otherwise, their arrest warrants will be issued.

Imran Khan gets bail in 8 cases, appears before NAB

An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad today granted bail to Imran Khan in eight cases till June 8, 2023.

The former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan appeared in the ATC at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday morning to get bail in different cases.

Imran Khan appeared in the anti-terrorism court ahead of his appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust case in Rawalpindi.

After appearing in the ATC in Islamabad, the former prime minister will appear before the NAB Rawalpindi in the Al-Qadir Trust scandal involving an allegation of corruption of 190 million Pounds.

According to the latest information, former prime minister Imran Khan has reached the NAB Rawalpindi office to join the investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
