PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: Three police officials, including a deputy superintendent of police, embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack on Sarband police station in KP on Friday night.

Unknown militants attacked the Sarband police station in Peshawar late Friday night and martyred three cops along with a DSP.

According to available information, Badhber DSP Sardar Hussain received information about the terrorist attack on the police station. He rushed to the police station along with his security guards.

Nonetheless, the terrorists attacked the police station from different sides and they also targeted the DSP and his guards.

The DSP, who chased the terrorists, got injured in sniper fire from the terrorists. Two of his guards also sustained injuries. They were rushed to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile, additional contingents of the police force also reached the Sarband police station to counter the attack. Resultantly, the terrorists fled from the area after throwing hand-grenades in and around police station.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) in Peshawar Kashif Aftab said the terrorists attacked the police station from different sides.

He added that the attackers used grenades, sniper rifles and modern automatic weapons in the attack and fled after killing a DSP and two others.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari hoped to win the war on terror in the province again.

He stated this while talking to the media persons prior to the funeral prayers for the martyred police officials in the attack.

He said that in 2014, terrorist attacks were at peak, but the institutions, community and media defeated the monster of terrorism.
