Karachi’s brave police commando who foiled the terrorist attack on Japanese

KARACHI: Details have emerged regarding a Karachi policeman who neutralized terrorists involved in a purported ‘suicide’ attack targeting foreigners in Landhi, a suburb of the city.

In Landhi’s Manshera Colony area, terrorists launched an assault on a vehicle transporting foreign nationals en route to the Export Processing Zone.

However, swift action by the police averted a tragedy, resulting in the elimination of two assailants during the exchange of gunfire.

The courageous police commando, who delivered a decisive shot to thwart the remaining attacker, recounted that he and his team were stationed at the nearest petrol pump. Upon hearing the blast and gunfire, they promptly responded to the scene of the crime.

According to the officer, upon arrival, the terrorist initiated gunfire towards them, prompting retaliatory action that culminated in the assailant being neutralized by a precise headshot.

Meanwhile, security personnel responsible for safeguarding the foreigners revealed that as the vehicle slowed down, one assailant detonated a suicide device, while another targeted the vehicle.

Providing further insight into the suicide attack, DIG East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar explained that initially it appeared that two terrorists were involved. One assailant approached the vehicle and detonated the explosive, while the other opened fire on the vehicle.

Mahesar noted that the attack occurred at 6:50 am, with remnants of the suicide bomber recovered from the scene. The identity of the deceased terrorist will be ascertained through NADRA records using his fingerprints.
