Hangu Operation
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police successfully carried out an operation in the Shanawari area of Hangu district, resulting in the killing of a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The operation was launched based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the region.
As security forces moved in to apprehend the militants, a fierce exchange of gunfire took place between the law enforcement personnel and the terrorists.
During the encounter, one terrorist was shot and killed, while another managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Authorities have since initiated a large-scale search operation in the area to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Police officials later identified the slain terrorist as Saeed, a known TTP commander who was allegedly involved in multiple criminal activities, including the killing of police officer Qudratullah. His elimination marks a significant victory for security forces in their ongoing fight against terrorism in the region.
During a post-operation search, security forces recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, two hand grenades, and several SIM cards originating from Afghanistan.
The presence of Afghan SIM cards suggests that the terrorists had cross-border links and were possibly coordinating activities with external elements.
Law enforcement agencies are now analyzing the recovered materials for further leads, which could help track down the escaped terrorist and other militants operating in the area.
The successful operation highlights the government’s continued efforts to eliminate terrorist networks and maintain law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security forces, ensuring collective efforts in countering terrorism.
Meanwhile, security forces remain on high alert as they continue their operations to neutralize remaining threats and prevent further militant activities in the region.
