Anwaarul Haq Kakar, the former caretaker prime minister, reclaimed his position as a senator in Balochistan following an unopposed election process.

However, amidst the electoral proceedings, a significant political shift occurred as Talha Mehmood decided to depart from his original party, Jamiaat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), and join PPP.
