Routine Check Leads to Record Violation Discovery
Lahore Traffic Police have arrested a motorcyclist after discovering that he had accumulated more than Rs2 million in unpaid electronic traffic fines, making him one of the cityโs largest e-challan defaulters.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi, the individual, identified as Baz Muhammad, was stopped during a routine traffic inspection. During the verification process, officials found an unusually large record of outstanding violations linked to his name.
Further investigation revealed that Baz Muhammad had pending e-challans totaling more than Rs2.088 million. Authorities described the case as one of the most significant instances of unpaid traffic penalties encountered during ongoing enforcement operations.
As a result, traffic police immediately took action and seized the motorcycle he was riding. Officials subsequently transferred the vehicle to the Muslim Town police station, where it was formally impounded pending further proceedings.
The case has attracted considerable attention due to both the scale of the unpaid fines and the number of vehicles linked to the individual.
Authorities Expand Enforcement Measures
During the ownership verification process, police discovered that 421 vehicles, including motorcycles, rickshaws, and other transport units, were registered under Baz Muhammadโs name.
Consequently, traffic authorities moved to blacklist all vehicles associated with him. Officials said the action aims to prevent the operation or transfer of those vehicles until the outstanding legal and financial issues are addressed.
CTO Shirazi emphasized that Lahore Traffic Police continue to intensify enforcement against habitual traffic violators and e-challan defaulters. He noted that authorities have already blacklisted more than 100,000 vehicles and motorcycles connected to individuals with significant unpaid traffic penalties.
Furthermore, the department has expanded monitoring and verification efforts to identify repeat offenders and improve compliance with traffic regulations across the city.
Officials stated that the crackdown forms part of a broader initiative to strengthen road discipline, improve public safety, and ensure that traffic laws are enforced more effectively.
The latest arrest serves as a reminder that authorities are increasingly using digital enforcement systems to track violations and recover outstanding penalties from chronic offenders.
