City tightens oversight ahead of festive livestock demand
The Karachi city administration has introduced strict regulations for setting up cattle markets ahead of Eidul Azha. Officials have made it mandatory for all operators to obtain prior permission from the Commissionerโs Office before establishing any market.
Moreover, the decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by Syed Hassan Naqvi. Senior representatives from police, traffic authorities, municipal bodies, and cantonment boards attended the session, while deputy commissioners joined via video link. The meeting focused on improving coordination and ensuring orderly management of livestock markets across the city.
Authorities link approval process with security and traffic planning
Under the new policy, no cattle market will operate without formal approval. Furthermore, authorities will issue permits only after consulting police and traffic departments. This step aims to strengthen security arrangements and manage traffic flow during the busy Eid season.
In addition, officials emphasized that unauthorized cattle markets will be treated as illegal. As a result, strict enforcement measures will be taken against any violations. The administration has directed all deputy commissioners and law enforcement agencies to coordinate closely to prevent unapproved setups.
Meanwhile, city officials stressed the importance of maintaining public order during the festive period, when demand for livestock typically increases. Consequently, they urged stakeholders to comply with the new rules to avoid penalties and disruptions.
Overall, the policy reflects efforts to regulate commercial activity while ensuring safety, organization, and smooth traffic management during Eidul Azha preparations across Karachi.
