KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Karachi from the evening of August 1 until August 2. The weather department expects the incoming system to bring scattered showers without causing heavy rainfall in the city.
According to the PMD, changing weather patterns over the region are influencing conditions across Sindh and other parts of Pakistan. Moreover, moist winds and a western weather system are expected to increase rainfall activity over the coming days.
Weather Systems to Bring Rain Across Sindh
The PMD stated that a deep depression, which developed over the Bay of Bengal, is currently located over Madhya Pradesh, India. However, the department expects the system to weaken during the next 12 hours.
Furthermore, the weather system is likely to weaken into a depression before turning into a low-pressure area within the following 24 to 36 hours. Despite weakening, it will continue to influence weather conditions in the region.
The department also reported that moist winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal continue to enter Pakistan’s upper and central regions. At the same time, a western weather system remains active over the country’s northern areas.
Karachi to Receive Light Showers
The combined effect of these weather systems is expected to produce intermittent rainfall in several districts of Sindh. These areas include Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar, and Hyderabad.
According to the forecast, these districts may experience rain from the evening or night of July 31 through August 2. Meanwhile, Karachi is likely to receive light to moderate showers from the evening of August 1 until August 2.
The PMD clarified that the current weather system is not expected to produce heavy rainfall in Karachi. Nevertheless, occasional showers could provide temporary relief from hot and humid weather conditions.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and exercise caution during periods of rainfall. Furthermore, local authorities may issue additional advisories if weather conditions change in the coming days.
